SPIRIT WEEK and other news
Don't forget our next phys.ed skating day is next Tuesday, March 1st. It is another afternoon skate time. Please come volunteer if you ca. We need help tying skates! The rink also wants volunteer skater adults to wear a helmet if they can!
Test and Quiz duotangs are coming home tomorrow with the Divider's License quiz inside to be signed. It will have a colour photocopy of your child's license level...you can stick it on the fridge (they are pretty neat!). Their 'real' license is laminated in plastic and kept at school.
Keep studying those times tables at home. All grade 4's should have them memorized very shortly. Grade 5's are expected to already know them!
SPIRIT WEEK/KINDNESS OTTAWA WEEK- PJ day tomorrow and bring a canned food item as 'payment'.
Thursday: Rock/Pop Star day- Wear crazy hair or dress like a rock star. Bring canned food.
Special Musical Treat- DRUMHAND (part of the Juno-nominated band Mr. Something Something) performing for the school in the afternoon.
Friday- Outdoor Play Day-dress for the weather. Movie treat in the afternoon.

Update
In math, we are finishing learning long division. Students will be taking their Ontario Divider's Licence tests this week to determine whether they have a learner's permit, G1 or G2. Their licence is personalized and looks like a real licence! It will gain them access to special treats.
In addition, in math we are moving on towards fractions and decimals. This also requires memorizing of times tables. Your child should be reviewing them nightly, with either flashcards or the internet sites listed on this blog page. As we move towards reducing fractions or making fractions with common denominators, students who know their times tables tend to find this simple and fast. Those who don't sometimes begin to struggle. We want everyone on board and succeeding! Please let me know via the agenda, if you wish to have extra multiplication drill sheets sent home for weekends. I have already issued a few extra help duotangs to students! They are a big help.
