HAVE A WONDERFUL HOLIDAY! I wish you all a Merry Christmas surrounded by the ones you love the most.

To those parents and students who wrote a Christmas card or took time out of a busy week to send in treats (to the class... or Miss.Sturgeon), many thanks and Blessings to you. Everything is greatly appreciated and does not go unnoticed. Miss. Sturgeon is looking forward to the new 2018 year with all the Grade 5 students and their families.

Remembrance

Since Remembrance Day falls on a Saturday this year, our class is leading a small Peace Liturgy instead. We will however, be practicing In Flanders Fields for a song version of the poem. At home this evening and all week, please memorize the following:

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky

Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
      In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
      In Flanders fields.

Here is the song version to practice the tune at home also:

Field Trip

Our Field Trip was wonderful and the weather couldn't have been better. We were treated to a special lunch in an MP meeting room, where our local Kanata MP spoke with us and answered many questions. What a rare opportunity! Here are just a few of our many photos. We have video clips as well!
