Here is a good resource to bookmark for math at home. Math Live, by the Alberta government. It has many tutorials and games for grade 5 students. Take a peek! I will add it to our 'speed dial' important sites column of links.

Welcome Back for the Spring Months!
Spring is starting to spring up...and so will more focus on multiplication facts and division. Many Grade 5 students find division concepts challenging. Especially long division steps! It will be a frequent direct focus for the upcoming months. Knowing those times tables will help. Students will be earning their Ontario Divider's License! Keep practicing PRODIGY, as there will be many times table drills and division problems to work on.

Very cool science!
Miss. Sturgeon brought a pig heart to school to compare with a human heart. We found: the atrium, the ventricles, and two valves (along with the chordae tendinae that open and close them)! Check out our Twitter Feed for more cool daily activities!

Miss.Sturgeon Update
Unfortunately, Miss. Sturgeon will still be out tomorrow recovering. A supply teacher will be skating with the students. Please come if you can to help tie skates and feel free to join on the ice! The students love it when you participate with them!
Thanks!
