Eggciting Science/Language/Math

Image result for mars imageWOW!! Our class is imagining (but with real chickens) that we are the first scientists on Mars. We have started a colony and are beginning to terraform the planet. The first thing we need to do to be sustainable is to grow organisms, especially ones that are sources of food. Plants, cows, chickens... all will be needed on Mars. We are trying to use an incubator to hatch the first ever space chickens! First we need to be completely familiar with the structure of an egg and know the development of the embryo inside it. As scientists, we will monitor the growth of the embryo using a light to shine through the egg to check on the blood vessels within. We will be taking observational notes, creating Google slideshows about chicken development, and how incubators work.

Ask us about what happens weekly! Our scientists hope to know as much as we can by the end of this week!

We will post weekly on this blog (with pictures) about the development of our embryos. Keep your fingers crossed that we can hatch our chickens!! Then we can (start to imagine) surviving in space!!
