How do I Submit My Work?

If you are wondering the easiest ways to submit work, here is the answer!

Math is really tricky to try to type up, so just use scrap paper, or any paper you have at home to do your math. Then just take a close up photo of your paper with any device you have and email it to Miss.Sturgeon. OR You can also create a GOOGLE SLIDESHOW of all your work, like a virtual portfolio, and keep putting the photos on pages there. Each slide can have a different page of your work. That way, all your photos are in a book/slideshow and all your home distance learning is in one place. Like this:

Language writing can be typed in a GOOGLE DOC and shared with Miss. Sturgeon.

Video projects for Media Literacy can be uploaded to your G Drive and Shared with Miss.Sturgeon or just attached in an email if the size is not over the limit.

FUN IDEA: Use a patio door if you have one, to write with dry erase markers. Put paper behind with tape if its a nice day outside.

Lesson Flow

Hello Parents and Students,
To keep things organized, all lessons for the school closure will have a similar flow.

STEP 1: Will begin with some of the weekly goals, taken from the Ontario Curriculum. Colour coded Yellow.

STEP 2: Next you will see helpful tutorial videos. Colour coded Pink/Purple.

STEP 3: Then there will be virtual textbook-style work to try (You Try It). Colour Coded Green.

STEP 4: Will have gaming or activity links to quiz website or games with those concepts. Don't forget Prodigy Math and Mathletics as well! Colour Coded Green as it is part of You Try It!

STEP 5: Will be an extra extension task, something more creative, or art/science link activities. OR maybe even a cool science/math movie I found, such as Bill Nye or Science Max! Colour Coded Blue.

We will see what works well and what does not. This is a very trial-and-error style of learning/teaching! I hope to start some Google Meet class sessions near the end of each week to ask students if they are having difficulty, if it is too much, too little or if they don't understand key concepts. In these sessions, I may pose a PICKLE PROBLEM word problem, starring Mr. Pickles the seal. Students can try the problem and gives answers the following Google Meet session.

Be well. Keep Calm and Wash Your Hands,

Miss. K. Sturgeon

Mondays!

Hello Parents!

As per new guidelines from the Board, teachers are encouraged to post important work early in the week, preferably on Mondays, so students can work when time allows the rest of the week.

I will be launching "Please Try It" MONDAYS starting next week. This will be work that students should try to complete and submit before the next Monday for helpful feedback and Report Card purposes.

I will continue to post activities and extra work for students who wish to do more throughout the week, but these activities will be optional/when time allows. They can still be submitted if you wish to show what your child is working on!

Students should complete PER WEEK:

2.5 hours of math that includes science

2.5 hours of literacy (English and French) that includes Social Studies (in French) and Religion

I will attempt some whole class Google Meetings, and students are encouraged to join if they can. Watch for emails with links.

Stay tuned for more information. Things may also change as we discover what is working/not working for families! Be patient and flexible as we all try to navigate this stressful time.

Keep in touch with Miss. Sturgeon! She will answer emails and requests for help/passwords etc.

Please let her know if there are problems with tech or constant frustrations!
